Of the three, I Girasoli is the weakest of the De Sica/Mastroianni/Loren pictures. (The others are Ieri Oggi Domani and Matrimonia all'Italiana. Am I missing any others?) This is an incredibly large and very serious historical pageant, and though I didn't love it like I liked the others (both comedies) I appreciated its scope and its message.
