Ruth Chatterton is a damn genius.
Sarah and Son is an emotional film and a bit of a far-fetched Cinderella story, but Chatterton's performance makes it all worth it. Also, it's worth noting that
Sarah and Son was directed by Dorothy Arzner, one of the few women who worked as directors in Hollywood in this period.
