The Wonders is marvelous. Rohrwacher’s portrait of a family working the land in traditional ways but getting squeezed by regulations and the modern world makes parallels between lost Etruscan antiquity and ghost stories. This is a beautifully balanced film with some gorgeous performances at its center.
